A date that will live in infamy

[500 words]

Last week, Thursday, August 24, 2006 a date which will live in infamy the South African justice system was suddenly and deliberately attacked by the arrogant Tony Yengeni and the forces of the ANC.

With the heros send-off given to Tony Yengeni by his ANC pals, Pahad, Rasool, Sisulu, Mbete and his welcome to prison by Balfour, has rung in a dark chapter for South Africa indeed.

The actions of Rasool and Co. have revealed the ANCs true policy. That it is soft on crime. Even the prison warders were toyi toying - now there's a sight to plummet the JSE.(Every time I see someone toyi toying, I know why we dont have more investment in this country its embarrassing). We are slowly but surely becoming the laughing stock of the world not only with our Alice in Wonderland HIV stance but with our stance on crime and, of course, Robert Mugabe.

Now, either Yengenis cronies dont believe hes guilty or they think corruption is too small an issue to warrant a jail term. I suspect its a little of both. Remember, it is the little indiscretions that lead to the big lies, which lead to the country suffering.

Recent events prove the point both the Vietnam War and Americas second Vietnam, Iraq were built on lies.

The ANCs message is clear its hunting season out there and the honest, law-abiding citizens of this country are the hunted. Viva!  Its mugging season and the muggers are dressed in Armani, carry Gucci handbags and use Parliament as their hideout. These reverse Robin Hoods (stealing from the poor to give to the rich) should take a leaf out of minister of safety and security, Charles Nqakulas book. He recently said, By having knowledge of crime such as corruption and not doing anything about it, you are no better than the criminals themselves.

Tony Yengeni said, Those who think prison will break me are in for a very big surprise Of course it wont, Tony. With your own cell and 50% off your Vaseline, smokes and everything else, youre set. Isnt it ironic that you even got a discount on your prison sentence? Way more than 50% if my maths serves me. The only things youll miss are your Armani suits. But dont worry, youll probably be out by Christmas and be able to slip into them quite comfortably because you wont have been in long enough to lose any weight.

The sad thing about you Tony is that youve always been in prison the prison of your mind a mind that only thinks of self and not of others. Thats your legacy to the ANC and to this country.

I truly hope that with your action, Tony and that of your ANC cronies, we can say, You have awakened a sleeping giant, and filled him with a terrible resolve. Come on South Africa, lets get resolute and start acting with a moral compass that is so lacking so that we can become a proud nation once again.
